BS 3059 is a British standard that specifies requirements for electric resistance welded (ERW) boiler tubes used in the construction of pressure vessels and boilers. The standard is divided into two parts:

BS 3059 Part I:

• Scope: Covers general requirements for ERW steel tubes used for high-pressure service.
• Materials: Primarily focuses on carbon steel grades, ensuring that the tubes are suitable for high-temperature applications.
• Applications: Commonly used in the manufacture of boiler components and heat exchangers.
• Mechanical Properties: Specifies requirements for tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and impact resistance.

BS 3059 Part II:

• Scope: Similar to Part I but focuses on tubes designed for lower pressure applications.
• Materials: May include other steel grades with less stringent mechanical properties compared to Part I.
• Applications: Used in less demanding boiler applications and for general-purpose piping.
