Chrome moly pipe, often referred to as "chrome moly" or "chromoly," is a type of alloy steel pipe that contains chromium and molybdenum as the primary alloying elements. This combination enhances the pipe's mechanical properties, making it suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.

1. Material Composition:

   • Typically made from low-alloy steel, with chromium content usually between 0.5% to 9% and molybdenum content ranging from 0.1% to 2.5%.
   • Common grades include ASTM A335 (such as P1, P5, P11, P22, and P91), each with specific chemical and mechanical properties.

2. Mechanical Properties:

   • High strength and toughness, enabling the pipe to withstand high pressures and temperatures.
   • Good ductility and weldability, allowing for easy fabrication and installation.

3. Temperature and Pressure Resistance:

   • Designed for high-temperature applications, often used in environments up to 600°C (1112°F) or more, depending on the grade.
   • Excellent performance in both high-pressure and low-temperature conditions.

4. Applications:

   • Commonly used in various industries, including:
     • Power generation (boiler tubes, superheaters).
